Pneumothorax During Urological Retroperitoneal Laparoscopic Surgery
Lee Dae-Won

Abstract
Recently, retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery is being increasingly used for urologic surgery. This procedure less invasive and safer than laparotomy surgery. However, pneumothorax is a rare and potentially serious complication that can be occurred during laparoscopic surgery. A 60-year-old male patient was admitted for retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrolithotomy under general anesthesia. About 40 minutes after CO2 pneumoperitoneum, the patient's artetial blood CO2 partial pressure increased. A chest X-ray was taken in the operating room, which showed pneumothorax in the right lung. We conclude that closed observation and careful moniroting are essential to prevent pneumothorax during retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery.
